Ray&Co is all about Love. There is only one “Love” which stems out the other different kinds but Love represents itself in many different ways. In  a sense, that is how Ray&Co is. The genre may vary from song to song, but general idea is the same: Love. Love, which is immediately opposite of lust; the desire to satisfy self.

The naming of Ray&Co came about when Ray was performing around greater Boston area with different band members. People wondered about the identity of the band as it seemed to be constantly changing. Finally, the name RaynCo came about when Jon Howland suggested the name, to describe how the band is actually a continuous change of a group of people that Ray performs with. As it depicts precisely of the love that Ray has to make music with different artists, it was then finalized as the official name of the band.

With musical influences ranging from Ben Harper and Bob Marley, to U2, Sublime, and Citizen Cope, Ray creates a music scene he can truly call his own. With his soulful and distinctive voice, Ray has the natural ability to capture the audience's attention from the very first note. Ray's reggae, rock, pop, and one of a kind style creates a distinct atmosphere whenever he takes the stage. His unique music is overflowing with the challenging life lessons he has learned along with the gruelling struggles he continues to deal with. Ray Nainggolan was born on January 9, 1981 in Cairns, and was raised in the city of West Papua, Indonesia.

Ray was given the opportunity to move to the United States at the age of fifteen, where he lived with a host family, and soon thereafter, began attending high school. It was during his time in Vermont that Ray joined his first bands. His first band experience was a punk/ska band where ray used his musical talents by playing the trombone. After graduating from high school, Ray found himself attending Gordon College in the fall of 1999. It was during this time in Ray's life where his music began to gain a much larger audience.

On one of his trips to his home land of Indonesia, Ray was inspired and moved by the hardships his native people had to endure. Through this experience came the songs, “That's Love”, and “City of Vain”, which reflect the trials and struggles that numerous people deal with on a daily basis. Other songs also encapsulate the joys and thrills of living such as “Graceful Café” and “Lonely Paradise”. These songs were just the beginning of Ray's new and inspired passion for his music, which would take him to places he never could have imagined.

After returning to the United States, Ray's music continued to grow in popularity, which encouraged Ray to put his sole effort and focus on his musical career. He performed at the Inside Out Soul Festival at Loon Mountain in front of a large and appreciative crowd.

Currently, Ray is living in Sydney, Australia performing in pubs and festivals around Sydney with a new Australian band lineup.

That’s Love

When all else fails but love

More power than anybody has ever seen

It is hard like a rock, yet it touches you so soft

It will take you through the fiery hell,

It’ll make you strong enough

It will take you to a new place above,

Now, that’s Love.

Love is paitent, Love is kind

When it’s stuck within your soul

It will cease every moment

Put aside your selfish goal

Love is faithful love is blind

Love will make you beautiful

When the power of the Almighty

Purify and make me whole

It doesn’t start by judging them

It spreads when you begin

It will multiply by the thousands,

By proof of free from sin

It could only start with you

Love will make you graceful

(with compassion in your heart)

Love will make you realize what is true

Even for the simple

It will find the way, It will find the Way

That’s Love! Now, that’s Love.

TWO THOUSAND TWELVE

Ray John - from Australia to the World!! This is the new direction for Ray’s music. There is no mistake. The name change clearly indicates that Ray is moving into a fresh new field. Proudly Australian with ethnic Indonesian, Ray is honoured to represent multicultural Australia. This year, the path is clear. Ray is planning tour the places where he gained the experience as a musician and as an individual.

The upcoming second album will be focused. Teamed with a highly respected and experienced producer (we can’t reveal the names just yet..) the album will represent Australia in the mainstream for something other than disco or rock. Don’t be alarmed, it will still rock your world silly and it will deliver the authentic melodies to set your hearts ablaze.
